Many creators do not understand their business: who they work for?
What do their contracts mean? Many creators’ organizations
have on-going education programs for their members. The Federation
is developing educational programs specifically designed to advance
the underlying goals of a strategic campaign, with an emphasis on
hands-on training seminars.
A crucial part of such education will incorporate the strategic
power analysis. By understanding the strategic alliances between
media companies, the relationships between the regulatory and political
process (in a nutshell, how deals get made) and the long-term metamorphosis
of the industry, creators will come to learn that, while their individual
creativity is to be honored, their economic futures lie in seeing
themselves as a collective force.
Goal: formulate education seminars for
creators, which teach them the contours of the economic marketplace
and instruct them about the value of creators’ organizations.
